strange nat issue

Hi guys,

I have conflicting range of IP for site A and site B. we use a NAT router in between. we passthrough traffic that doesnt require NATing.

we have a website on siteB(abc.siteb.com) that siteA has to access.

the host "abc" is NATed. when the user type http://abc on the browser, they are able to access siteB website. however, when they use http://abc.siteb.com, it fail.

we found out that the DNS server replicate all siteB.com over, and therefore when the user type abc.siteB.com, it go direct to the siteB.com zone and searches for the real address of "abc" instead of the NATed ip.

How can I solve this issue?

Thanks much,

PN

Delete siteB domain and disable replication.

It's a DNS issue, nothing special can be done at the router.

NAT is doing its job.

Hi Edison,

Thanks for the confirmation. you are right.

Thanks much,
