Suitable router for incomming SIP Authentication

Hi everyone!

I'm in need of some tips on a router. We have a CUCM Bussines Edition, and the SIP trunk that we are going to connect the phonesystem to requires authentication, and since the CUCM can't authenticate against SIP on it's own we need a router in front to handle this.

What I need to know is what kinf of feauture set do I need to preforme this? I have been looking at the 2901, but is the 2901 alone enough, or do I need the "Voice Security"?

Best regards,

Johan Christensson

You don't need the Security feature license. There is no feature license called CUCM.

The 2901 is very apt for the job.

A 2901 is fine. You only need UC and CUBE licenses.

Thanks for a swift anwser!

Ok, so I will need both the Voice Security and the CUCM featurer? I have been looking around at cisco.com and I guess that the 2901 is the smallest model that would work since the 1800 or the 1900 series dosen't seem to come with these features. Correct?

Oh, sorry! A typ-o from my part, I ment CUBE not CUCM.

So, to make sure that I understand you correctly, just a simple 2901 like the CISCO2901-SEC would work fine. I don't need the Voice Security och the CUBE feature license lite the C2901-VSEC or C2901-VSEC-CUBE?

Just to make it clear, we already have the CUCMBE unit, we just need to be abel to be abel to authenticate SIP againt our ISP.

Already answered above, please read again if not clear.

Ok, thanks for your help Paolo.

Got a bit of confused since you first stated that it would take "Voice Security" and "CUBE" to get the functions that I need, and in a later post you said that the "Voice Security" isen't needed.

But I guess that I will go with either a 2901 or 2801 with CUBE or equal since this seems like the "smaller" router like 1800-series dosen't seem to cut it.

Actually I never stated that "Voice Security" is needed. I only stated what you can read above.
