What is default time interval between two pings sent from ISR4K routers using ping command?
How can we change it, e.g. to ping at 50ms of interval?

Hello,
even with an IP SLA you cannot do 50 ms pings (which is equal to 20 pings per second). 1 second is the minimum frequency in an IP SLA.
So you would have to look at a third party tool (such as the one I sent), which obviously cannot be run from the router directly.

you need to look at extended ping :

Hello @Sunil Gajjar ,
ping on Cisco routers is a connectivity test tool not a traffic generator tool.
The next ping will start after answer or timeout of the previous one.
To have ICMP requests sent at regular intervals with a frequency of 50 msec you need to use an IP SLA
Hope to help

Sure agree if this is ongoing ping - ip sla is the way to use with time.

Hello,
the 'best' a Cisco router can do is a 'rapid' ping, which means the pings will be sent without waiting for a reply:
Router#ping
Protocol [ip]:
Target IP address: 1.1.1.2
Repeat count [5]: 1000
Datagram size [100]:
Timeout in seconds [2]: 0
Other than that, there are external tools such as hrping (zip file attached) that let you do millisecond interval pings...

Thanks for your replies, in summary it appears that ping-echo interval cannot be adjusted on default PING tool on Cisco router as there is no option there even not in extended ping. It can be done somewhat by using IP SLA at certain frequency but putting interval in terms of milliseconds does not look to be achievable using it unless we hear from someone else any other out of the box idea.
