Hi,
Does anone know of or reccomend a traffic generator that can send out HTTP, FTP, RTP etc across a WAN? I could use one for my QoS study and LAB. I do remember them having one in the QoS training course but i cant remember the name of it. I think it was a hardware device anyway.

Look into this url for more details about Ixia;

You can use this : http://sourceforge.net/projects/iperf/ or use router(s) with ip sla or TCL to send traffic you wish or use this powerful software to create packets and send them : http://www.secdev.org/projects/scapy/

Will NBAR be able to detect the traffic type or are these just sending TCP/UDP traffic on certain ports?
Cheers

Jon,
As I said, we have used it for normal TCP/UDP traffic generator not at the application level.
