Hello All

This is first time I am going to configure VSS , I learned some tips online, but most of them was 6500 series also I need experts advice that's why I am posting here.

Right now I have 2 brand new Cisco 4507 R+E , and Planning to configure VSS on it. hardware details are below.

NAME: "Switch System", DESCR: "Cisco Systems, Inc. WS-C4507R+E 7 slot switch "
PID: WS-C4507R+E       , VID: V09  , SN: FXS1937Q0ZE

NAME: "Linecard(slot 1)", DESCR: "1000BaseX (SFP) with 24 SFP Ports Jumbo Frame Support"
 --More--         PID: WS-X4724-SFP-E    , VID: V01  , SN: CAT1946L468

NAME: "Supervisor(slot 3)", DESCR: "Sup 8-E 10GE (SFP+), 1000BaseX (SFP) with 8 SFP+ Ports"
PID: WS-X45-SUP8-E     , VID: V05  , SN: CAT1947L0PP

NAME: "TenGigabitEthernet3/1", DESCR: "SFP-10Gbase-SR"
PID: SFP-10G-SR        , VID: V03  , SN: FNS19450B6N

  • please let me know the correct way to configure this series as vss,
  • do I need an ideal config on both switch (in case of power failure if other switch is working then I think its need same config as first) sorry may be I am confused by VSS and HSRP working.. :p.
  • How to connect any other L3 device connected to vss. By using L3 port channel?

Kindly make these confusion clear to me thanks .

Luck is shining upon you.

Sup8E means that you can enable Easy VSS.

Let's say you have TWO WLC.

Connect WLC 1 straight to Unit 1 of the VSS.  Connect WLC 2 to Unit 2.

The Cisco WLC supports HA SSO.

ohhh

Thanks Leo for a quick response. going through this article :) .

As I am new in VSS there is some confusion .

1-after VSS conversion, if I want to connect any L3 device suppose WLC, then do I need to connect WLC to both switch(Active & Standby) physically by using Multi chassis ether channel,

What if I will connect WLC to only active SWITCH, will it work after active switch fails  ?
