What is normal value of drops of output queue?

Hi,

Are there any role for numbers of drops of the output queue? Normally the packet drops used to avoid the congestion. Which number of drops are acceptable? How can i avoid or decrease the drops? Are there best method aside from increase the bandwith?

Drops can often be useful, because they trigger the flow control mechanisms of upper layer protocols (for example, drops decrease the TCP window size).
