Hi,

when i type "show interface" command on 1941 router,  shows below print. Why 5 minute input-output rate are 0 bits? Can it be a bug?

Thank you for your help.

5 minute input rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec

5 minute output rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec

304015 packets input, 151607798 bytes, 0 no buffer

     Received 0 broadcasts, 0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles

     0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored, 0 abort

     591648 packets output, 186043852 bytes, 0 underruns

IOS version is c1900-universalk9-mz.SPA.150-1.M1.bin

I have already tried send some traffic but 5 minute input-output rate are still same "0".

and the number of packets increased?

try this : ping x.x.x.x rep 100 time 0

Hi,

there are some traffic on the interface, packet input-output increasing but just 5 minute input-output rate are 0 bits.

  5 minute input rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec

  5 minute output rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec

304015 packets input, 151607798 bytes, 0 no buffer

     Received 0 broadcasts, 0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles

     0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored, 0 abort

     591648 packets output, 186043852 bytes, 0 underruns

Have you tried  ping x.x.x.x rep 100 time 0  ??  where x.x.x.x is your router ip address

yes, i tried for both rotuer.

Hi Emre,

My first though is that the level of traffic going through the router is just too low, resulting in this statistical analysis.

You could try and change the value of the interface load-interval down to 30 seconds:

conf t

interface f0/0

load-interval 30

This should now report to you the average load of the interface over a 30 second period rather than the default 5 minute period (i find this more useful as the traffic peaks are not washed out by the five minute average period)

Also, what are you trying to acheive here?  An understanding of the interface utilisation?  A more complete method for understanding and documenting this may be to implement an SNMP interface utilisation monitoring tool.  There are plenty freely available - check out PRTG off the top of my head.

Regards, Ash.

I am running into the same issue on some 7201's on a GRE tunnel. I have all the proper config in the tunnel and show int results in a 30 second input rate 0 bits/sec. I am running c7200p-advipservicesk9-mz.150-1.M3.bin. I actually just dropped a TAC case in so we'll see what they say. Long story short, its an old IOS and I'll be upgrading.

I'm having this same issue.

Setup

Cat 4507, IOS 12.2(50)SG1

Routed Interface.

Using jperf to test a new pt-pt link and sending 95Mbps for over 5 minutes.  Load-int = 30.

The packet count is incrementing, the in/out bits/sec are not showing anything.

30 second input rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec

  30 second output rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec

  L3 in Switched: ucast: 5961796 pkt, 8735229293 bytes - mcast: 0 pkt, 0 bytes

  L3 out Switched: ucast: 3360161 pkt, 152129618 bytes - mcast: 0 pkt, 0 bytes

5938491 packets input, 8808294056 bytes, 0 no buffer

update IOS.

Hi ,

Has the IOS Upgrade resolved the issue. I am experiencing the same issue on a 3750 - 48 TS Switch , terminating a Metro Ethernet Layer 3 Connection .

Thanks ,

Yes People! Update to the latest IOS and it solves this problem! I have had the same with Cisco 1900 series router and Image upgrade resolved the issue.!
