WIC Not Recognized: WIC-1ADSL-DG, 1751 & 12.3(13)

Hi,

I have a WIC-1ADSL-DG card that I am trying to install on a 1751. The router detects that there is a WIC installed, but can not recognize what it is. The router is currently running 12.3(13) (c1700-k9o3sy7-mz.123-13.bin).

I know that the Slot is working as I have used a single port Ethernet WIC without problems.

I have tried:

- 2 different WIC-1ADSL-DG cards (same result)

- Both Slot 0 & Slot 1 (same result)

- Multiple IOS versions:

- c1700-advsecurityk9-mz.123-13.bin (same result)

- c1700-k9o3sy7-mz.123-13.bin (same result)

I was under the impression that all I would need to use was an IOS that explicitly stated that it contained the ADSL feature set (eg, IP/ADSL PLUS) or that contained 'y7' in the IOS file name.

Has anyone else had similar troubles?

Regards,

Antony

Hardware not recognized is mainly caused by the application of an incorrect IOS image.

When I checked the following URL:

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/cc/pd/rt/1700/prodlit/17ad_ds.pdf

it seems to me that you might need IOS 12.3T instead of the main line. Please check the part about software support to see what I mean. If you are able to get this type of image, it might be worth the try.

Leo

Hi,

Here is the result of dynamic configuration tool...

CISCO1751

10/100 Modular Router w/ 3 slots, IOS IP, 32F/64D

S17C7P-12311T

Cisco 1700 IOS IP/ADSL PLUS

WIC-1ADSL-DG

1-port ADSLoPOTS WIC with Dying Gasp

WIC-1ADSL-I-DG

1-port ADSLoISDN Wan Interface Card

As you can see that 12.3T series IOS with IP/ADSL Plus feature set, WIC-1ADSL-DG is recognised by the router. Please check your DRAM and flash requirements in th case of lack of DRAM and flash to run this new IOS. Also you may run special releases, suck as the ones start witk X. "XY","XW","XQ" and etc...

Baris.

Arggghh!!! It worked!

Here is the IOS I used:

1751 ADVANCED SECURITY 12.3.11T3

c1700-advsecurityk9-mz.123-11.T3.bin

Am I the only one who finds it strange that a feature set advertised as ADSL (eg, IP/ADSL PLUS ... but not a T release) doesn't actually support ADSL WICs???
