WS-C3550-24-SMI suitable for CCNA-CCNP

Hi

I'm looking to sit the ICND2 exam soon and have discovered that the pair of old 2924XL switches are not going to cut the mustard for the newer vlan commands and other features.

Would a pair of WS-C3550-24-SMI switches be a sensible replacement for ICND2 and possibly up to CCNP?  They are available on ebay for about £80 each.

You should better go with the EMI-version as the SMI is quite restricted. With the EMI you should be able to test most of the CCNP-level features.

Does the EMI image need any memory upgrades usually?

Hi,

it depends from the IOS you want to set in.

i don't believe you will need main memory for most of the EMI images!
