3845 for data center

Hi

is 3845 router suitable for connecting to 2 isps.

each link is about 150 mbps . BGP is enabled.

Yes most definately but especially if you are a small to medium business or enterprise sized branch office.

If it were two Fast Ethernet handoffs, I'd say yes with plenty of ram (Get an extra 256 or 512 if you are doing full BGP tables).

Each at 150Mb/s? If they were both maxed or you were DOS'd, I'd say no. It is really about the pp/s instead of bandwidth. If you were doing 150Mb/s of FTP (lots of big packets), no problem. 150Mb/s of voip (tons of tiny packets), then you'd have a problem.

Also keep in mind the features you're running. If you have QoS/ACL/WRED/etc enabled you can as good as cut those performance numbers in half.

BGP Router run about 132Mb in memory.

IP RIB 45Mb, others...

with simple QoS ...

almost use up 215Mb in memory.

3845 shipped with 256Mb RAM.

I think it may not suitable for BGP (only reason by memory).
