Can the 5010 peer with 5548 for vpc ?

We are in the process of replacing a pair of 5010's with 5548s. The 5010 is fully loaded including FC expansion module. We have limited rack space avail which prevents us from setting up the new pair of 5548s to support vpc and then moving cables from old to new. As an alternative i was wondering if it is possible to shutdown the B path, replace the 5010-B with 5548-B, and get vpc up and running between the 5010-A and 5548-B then replace 5010-A with 5548-A.

We are currently using the following

- vpc portchannel to core switching (6500)

- vpc portchannel to edge switching (4948s)

- vpc portchannel to UCS Fabric Interconnects

- vpc portchannel to Netapp Filer (NFS/FCoE)

- port channel to single homed 2ks

- FCOE to Servers and Netapp

- FC portchannel to core MDS switches.

I am not as worried about the FC side of the house as I am the vpc side. Specific concern (based on some lab work a while back) is with QoS policies and consistancy checks, but as you can see from the list there is a lot to consider.

I am interested any insight or feedback on this approach.

Thanks in advance

DaveO

A Nexus 50x0 cannot be a vPC peer for Nexus 55xx due to different ways of VPC implementation between the two.
