Changing SDLC VMAC addresses

I would like to change the SDLC VMAC address for some devices (due to a mistake made when assigning the address numbering scheme). I would very much appreciate advice on whether by doing so, will active connections be lost and need to be reset ?

By the way, will there be problems if there are duplicate VMAC on different devices ? Right now, everything seems to be working fine.

Thank you.

Changing the VMAC address will certainly cause the session to drop and reestablish. It would be cleaner to shut down the line, change to address and then do a no shut.

Duplication of VMAC will not be a problem since it is possible for one physical device to support multple PU sessions and this is how it would appear to the host end, so long as their XIDs are unique.
