Hi,
The design is supported according to http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/nexus-2000-series-fabric-extenders/200363-Nexus-2000-Fabric-Extenders-Supported-Un.html#anc13
1. Do we need "vpc X" command under "interface port-channelX" in this case?
2. Also, assuming the secondary nexus is down due to an issue. The design effectively reduces to this: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/nexus-2000-series-fabric-extenders/200363-Nexus-2000-Fabric-Extenders-Supported-Un.html#anc16
The docu marks it as not supported design. Will the attached host continue to work in such failure scenario?
Regards,
Rick.

Hi Rick,
As per the following guide
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus5000/sw/mkt_ops_guides/513_n1_1/n5k_enhanced_vpc.html#wp1165610
"You do not have to enter the CLI vpc vpc ID to create an Enhanced vPC. Although the vPC vPC ID command is not required, the software assigns an internal vPC ID for each Enhanced vPC. The output of the show vpc command displays this internal vPC ID."
The same guide has the following info:
When one Cisco Nexus 5000 Series device goes down, all FEXs remain connected to the other Cisco Nexus 5000 Series devices. All FEX front panel ports are still operational. All traffic flows continue to be forwarded by all FEXs.
