FEX 2Ks are connected to Nexus 5Ks , I am trying to add one port on the 2K to vlan 40 , vlan 40 already existing and there are active ports alredy on vlan 40. The port goes in to inactive mode soon as i add them to vlan 40. In vlan 1 the port is showing up. the message i get in console is below,

Can anyone help me out with this ?

Is the FEXs vPC back to both N5Ks? If yes, you need to put the same configuration on the same port, 102/1/15, on your second N5K to activate the port.

HTH,

Incase you are using VPC use below config on both N5Ks

#int eth 102/1/15

#Channel-group 123

!

#int port channel 123

#sw acess vlan 40

#vpc 123

Wow that was good.. It worked, would like to appreciate your quick reply. I heard in next verions this will be added as a feature.

The feature you want to use is called config-sync. It is available on NXOS 5.x on the N5K.
