Nexus 5020 ISSU Upgrade

Has anyone any experience of doing an ISSU upgarde on a 5020 with some FEXs associated to it? I have 2 x 5020s with 12 FEXs assocaited to each using vPCs. There are hunderds of servers connected to the FEXs with single NIC connections.

We are moving from NX-OS 5.0.2.N1.1 to NX-OS 5.0.3.N2.1

I understand the ISSU upgarde keeps the data plane up whilst updating the control plane. I have the following questions however.

Does the upgarde also update the image on the FEXs?

Will the FEXs reboot or reload during the process?

Would the ISSU upgarde be completely non-distruptive to the servers?

The big caveat that you should aware of is ISSU only applied to dual attached servers (Active/Standby). If it is single homed, there will be outage involved.

1. Yes, the upgrade will need to upgrade the image on the FEX.

2. The FEX will be reloaded. If it is single attached, it will be inaccessable when the FEX is updating the image.

3. It depends, if it is dual attached or singe attached.
