Nexus 2348TQ Fex with 40 Gig uplinks ports does not come online with parent switch Nexus5672UP
Without doing interface breakout the ports will not even show as connected on the Nexus5672UP ports towards FEX. Now after we configured the interface breakout the port-channel has come online however we see that the FEX has not come online. It shows as offline. Please let me know if anyone has faced a similar issue or is there a documentation to associate Nexus2348TQ fex with Nexus5672UP.

Yep. Same issue. You will need to use a supported cable.

● Copper: 40 Gigabit Ethernet QSFP+ active Twinax cables (QSFP-H40G-ACU7M and QSFP-H40G-ACU10M (no passive cables)

What kind of transceivers are you using?
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/nexus-2000-series-fabric-extenders/datasheet-c78-731663.html
I just had an issue where I could not get a 2348 to connect to an UCS-6332 (essentially an N9K) and it was due to the fact I was using passive copper (unsupported) vs active copper twinax cables (AOC).
I saw the same behavior with the breakouts as well, except when you execute 'show fex detail' the image on the FEX is "Unknown"

Hi Wesley,
Yes we are using the passive copper cables 1 metre 40Gig. Also we had to do interface breakout for these ports in order for the ports to be connected.
I also see that show fex detail shows fex image as unknown

Be advised, there is also a FN on those FEX:
