To Upgrade CIMC firmware

Not applicable
Hi,
Recently, we got a problem with our Cisco server as it shutdown automatically and sometime it’s running in to error with a blue screen saying that some hardware not compatible.
After that we could not even log in to CIMC for few weeks but Windows server is still running and last night the Windows shutdown again and we turn it on again this morning then now we can access to CIMC.
Our current CIMC firmware version is 1.5(5) and running with Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise
Our question are that:
-          Was it cause from CIMC firmware version 1.5(5)?
-          If we upgrade to latest CIMC firmware version 3.0, would anything effect to the RAID controoler, HDD firmware, SAS expander etc?
-          What should be prepared and be aware before the upgrade?
Thanks!

Greetings.

The HUU upgrade ISO, includes BIOS, CIMC, raid controller, sas expander, harddrives, supported adding card firmware.

You will want to check the interop matrix at https://ucshcltool.cloudapps.cisco.com/public/# and find out what potential drivers you may need to upgrade in the OS after running the HUU upgrade.

These would include the megaraid raid controller driver,enic/fnic (if you have Vic adapter), IGB (intel onboard LOM drivers), and any other adapter driver that matches your physical equipment.

HUU versions of 2.03i and higher have a CIMC fix for a memory leak, that caused the CIMC to become unreachable.

Thanks,

Kirk...

Hello,

First check to see if your server hardware and firmware is compatible with the operating system. You can use this link: UCS HW and SW Interop

When you upgrade the firmware, you should upgrade all components to the new firmware using the HUU. Also, make sure that you update your network and storage drivers in Windows.
