Collector Platform definitions

On any of the newer products, customer is getting a failed return due to not having the right platform definitions.  I see that we can either add them from a zip… is there anywhere to download a collection of updated definitions? Or does each device need to be added manually?

Not sure what a failed return would be.  If CSPC doesn't know about a platform, it still collects the default MIBs from it.  You get support in CSPC for the newer Cisco products by upgrading to the latest version.  CSPC 2.8 has the latest Cisco Product support.

Below is the response from the customer

"Everything is added to the include definitions except for exclude network and broadcast.  This address is 10.X.XXX.X.  I create a “custom” platform definition to include the Sys Object ID and it will work.  However, I’d rather not have to do that manually for any new product.  So far, I had to do it for our 3504 and our 9300’s.    We’re running version 2.8, so we are updated."

Which are the sysobjectids you had to do it for? Can you tell me which Collection Profile is being run on the collector?

The default SNTC collection profile is being used.

The two object IDs added were

3504 - 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.2427

9300 - 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.2494

3504 has been in the CSPC platforms since 2017. Look in the platform called WLC.
9300 was also added to CSPC in 2017. Look in the platform called IOS_XE_CA_Switches

From private message, customer is running CSPC 2.7/RP4.2 (released March 2017). 3504 was added in RP4.4 & 9300 added in RP4.3. Upgrading CSPC to a more recent release will provide all the latest device support.

Got additional input on the collector. It is running CSPC 2.8 but erroneously has RP4.2. It should have RP4.8. That is why the platform support isn't there because it is an 18 month old Rule Package. Recommend starting a new thread on the forum to get assistance with the CSPC upgrade that seems to have not worked fully.

I am currently running 2.8 with a rules package of 4.8. I am getting this error on 2960X and 3850 switches and 3925 and 819 routers. This is a new install.

I assume you are raising a separate issue from this thread.  Can you please start a new thread with more details?

Its the same exact error as  casey_biggs8. Only difference is hardware model and the fact that this is a new install. We had version 2.6, but due to upgrade issues, we just redeployed the 2.8 ova.

Can you describe the exact error a little more to me so I can ensure it is the same issue? The more details, the better. Can you also private message me the specific customer name and CSPC appliance ID?

Can you check Settings>Discovery Settings and look under Include Platforms and see if anything is selected on the right side? If so, please clear all of them. For the Exclude platforms you would normally just have the EXCLUDE_NETWORK_AND_BROADCAST entry. I assume the devices you are trying to discover are not IPs ending in .0 or .255?
