CSP-C __ UPLOAD AFTER DISCOVERY

Hello All,

Notice in tthe training videos ("CSP-C / Collection" segment)

that (Manage Data Collection Profile) box "UPLOAD AFTER COLLECTION" went from checked to unchecked (assume for training purposes).

So,

If I leave the box "checked" -- the collector data will subequently auto-upload after job completes -- Correct ?

I will be testing an "auto-upload" and a "manual" upload (BOTH after collections).

Please advise.

John

Hi John,

There are two methods to upload.

The Data Collection Profile Method

As described in the Getting Started Guide the "Upload After Collection" box is checked. This means that as soon as the inventory job finishes running, the data will be uploaded. You should be using this method.

The Upload Profile Method

If you go to Settings > Manage Upload Profiles, you might see an upload profile called something like "SNTC_UP". If you do, then your collector was most likely configured to upload via an Upload Profile. (You can check to see if the profile is scheduled.) If that is the case, then in the Data Collection Profile, the box "Upload After Collecion" is not checked. The inventory will complete, but the data will not upload until the time that the Upload Profile is scheduled to run.

The only reason you would want to use the Upload Profile method is if you wanted the upload to run at on a different day/time than the inventory.

Manual Uploads

A "manual" upload can be run one of two ways, depending on which configuration above you are using.

Go to Management > Run Data Collection Profile if you are configured the Data Collection Way. This will run an inventory, and then the upload once the inventory is complete.

Go to Management > Run Upload Profile if you are configured the Upload Profile Way. This will not run a new inventory. It will upload the data from the last successful inventory.

Thanks,

Lynden
