CSPC and CP-8831- Serial numbers

Customer has 6 conf phones under contract. CSPC found 5 devices but one showed coverage. It was the CP-8831-K9. The other 4 the CSPC found are CP-8831-BASE= and these serial numbers are not in CCW/R. Is the CSPC pulling the wrong serial number? Maybe there is a bundle top level serial number?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello Gary,

Would you be able to send me a private message with the Serial Numbers mentioned to help take a look?

Thank you,

Jarrett

FYI, CSPC doesn't directly collect IP Phone Serial Numbers.  It gets the MAC Address from CUCM via SNMP MIB (because CUCM doesn't report Serial Number) and then SNTC converts MAC Address to Serial Number.

For IP Phones agree. The PID checker shows the CP-8831-K9= is supported by the collector. Says the CP-8831-BASE= is not supported. However, the BASE units were discovered without MAC numbers. To me that means it did not pull from the CM but some SNMP is available on these units. The real issue through is the serial numbers. The base unit serial number does not show up in Cisco's CCW/R database.

The PID Checker doesn't show all the variants.  What I suspect is happening here is that CM is reporting a MAC and we check it in Cisco DB and get a Serial Number.  That SN is not found on any contract, but a manufacturing system in Cisco is reporting that BASE PID.  That isn't really a legit CP-8831 PID.  If you provide the specific serial numbers to Jarrett in a PM, he will be able to validate.  I don't suspect it is any collection or CSPC issue.

Thanks for the update. I did send the serial numbers so will see how we can reconcile the base serial number to the recorded serial number.

anyone can help? I having same issue also..
