Hi Geeks,
I'm a newbie with Cisco and my intention is to connect two physical sites(6kms apart) on fiber preferably single mode. For our discussions, I recommended the Cisco 2960-S 24 port with 2 SFP ports to be used at both ends of our sites.
My questions:
1. Is the switch 2960-S ok or any other recommended ones?
2. What cisco SFP modules do I need to properly setup up the fiber on both ends?..Any extra requirements for materials etc..??
3. If the two(2) switches are connected I will configure different VLANS on them. So for communications sake, can the different VLANS communicate via the fiber link without any Layer 3 device(firewall or router).
As per My understanding, I know for example vlan 1 on site 1 can communicate straight to vlan 1 on site 2 without the need of a Layer 3 device..please correct me If Im wrong?
Thank you
