Hello,

There are several steps for you to enable the DHCP server on the SG300. I will give you and idea what needs to be done.

1- Make sure that you are running the latest version of the firmware and boot code for your switch. The latest firmware is 1.4.0.88 and the latest boot code is 1.3.5.8. If you are not running those then go to cisco.com and look for the right download for your particular switch.

2- You will need to change the switch to layer 3. When you do this change, the switch will factory reset and you will have to configure everything from scratch.

3- Once on Layer 3 you will have to go ahead and create all the VLANS on the switch.

4- Go to IP configuration and assign IP addresses to all of the VLANS. This step is needed for the DHCP server to be configured.

5- You can finally go to the DHCP server page an enable it.

I hope this was helpful.

Hello Kabeer,

In order for you to configure and use the DHCP server feature of the SG300 switches, the switch needs to be on layer 3, you have to create all the VLANs on it and assign IP addresses to all the VLANs on the switch, then you can configure it.

DHCP will not work if your switch is on layer 2.

I hope this helps
