hi all.
here's what im trying to do, i'm not sure if its even possible on a 200 series switch but here goes.
We have 2 networks in our restaurants 1 POS and 1 UNAPPROVED.
Now the POS network is on a 10.x.x.x network, 255.255.255.0 subnet
the unapproved is 192.168.192.x
all i want to do is tell ports 1-19 to go through G1 and ports 20-24 to go through 24.
The 2 networks should not be able to talk to each other. Is this even possible with the 200 series? Or am I looking at a level 3 switch?

Hi Collin,
I think I understand what you're trying to do. You basically want the SG200 to act as two separate switches for 2 separate networks but in one physical unit, correct? Do they share the same internet connection or completely 100% separate? It sounds like you have two internet connections, one plugged in to G1 and one into G24, so two entirely separate networks you just want to cohabitate on the one switch.
If completely 100% separate, and you want the SG200 to act as a if ports 20-24 are on a completely separate device, just create a vlan:
then assign ports 20-24 to that vlan and make sure you remove vlan 1 (which will be left for ports 1-19):
Now they will be completely 100% separate. Just remember to the config changes.
If you want them to talk to each other, thats where you get into level 3 (inter-vlan routing).

That was exactly it, thanks for your quick response it's really appreciated!!! I was overcomplicating things by doing 3 vlans, default, 2, 3.
