Hi,
I hope that someone can assist me with this cause I'm starting to feel like a real nube! My SF300-24 switch has been working 100% as a backup switch for a client of mine. At my clients premises it was running 3 Vlan's and doing inter VLAN routing. When my client received their original switch back, I obviously brought my SF300-24 back to the workshop, reset it back to Factory defaults and tried to do a fresh installation on it. I can not get it to change from Layer 2 to Layer 3! I installed the latest firmware but still no go.
Everything works a 100% via the console, but when I go to the System Mode menu and try and edit it, it justs sits at layer 2 and will not chage to layer 3!
I'm hoping someone can help me.

Hi Mirco,
Upgrade the firmware to 1.1.2.0.Use the below link to download the firmware.
Configure the switch with below commands to change form Layer 2 to 3
The set system mode Privileged EXEC mode command puts the device into
switch mode (Layer 2 mode) or router mode (Layer 3 mode).
Syntax
set system mode {router | switch}
Parameters
• router—Specifies that the device functions as a switch-router.
• switch—Specifies that the device functions as a switch.
Default Configuration
The default configuration is switch mode (Layer 2).
Command Mode
Privileged EXEC mode
User Guidelines
After executing the command, the Startup Configuration file is deleted and the
device is rebooted. It is highly recommended to back up the Startup Configuration
file before executing this command.
Example
The following example configures the device to function as a switch-router (Layer
3), with QoS and Policy based VLANs.
switchxxxxxx# set system mode router

Hi Mirco,
I would have done exactly what you have done to alter the system mode.
These switches have a fabulous warranty, try contacting the good folk at Small Business support center and let them check the unit out.
