SGE2010, cant set ip on vlan/port

Hi

I have an SGE2010 L3 switch.

I'm trying to set IP on vlans and ports. But with no luck.

Switch is crashing every time I'm trying. Been using webgui, telnet, and CLI over telnet.

Last time I cleaned all config. And logged in webgui, went to "IP Adressing -> IPv4 interface and pushed "add".

Entered an IP, netmask for port48. (I'm connected on port 1).

And everyting freezes.

If I try telnet, I get disconnected. And same if I try CLI over telnet.

I haven't tried console, because I have wrong console cable to my PC.

So can anyone please help me?

I had this problem the other day.  Is vlan 1 set to a static ip with an ip defined?  It needs to be.  Also if your system led is flashing that means it's set to dhcp or looking for a dhcp ip.  If you set vlan 1 to static and define an ip for it the led will turn solid and you'll be able to define ip's for you other vlans.

Vlan 1 has an static IP 192.168.1.254. It has always been static. Even after I deleted the config.

No light is flashing.., pwr and fan is on and all the other is off.

Hi Torbjoern, the answer above is correct. This is a classic "problem" and has been persistent for years (it's not a bug). If you need assistance to set vlan IP addresses you can call the small business support. If you're out of warranty for phone support, we can set up a teamviewer and I will help you.

I think I got it working now

I made an new static IP on vlan1 with telnet. And now I can make IP addresses for vlans.

PITA isn't it!  It had me stumped for over a day until Tom clued me in. You would think out of the box it would be set static, dhcp disabled with the 192.168.1.254 ip set but instead it's set to dhcp and the 192.168.1.254 is equivelent to an automatic private address, I guess.
