Hello,

I have my network with serie 300 switches. One is working in layer 3 mode and all others switches are in layer 2 mode.

I dont have redundant path between switches. Should I enable STP? or is not necessary?

Thanks a lot.

Hi Ruy,

It is rare for STP to cause problems. There are a few rare cases that it will cause a problem but overall having STP enabled should not impact your network.

I would recommend double checking everything on your network before disabling STP. It only takes one missed cable and your whole network will freeze in a broadcast storm.

If you don't have redundant paths, STP is not necessary but can be useful to prevent problem do to accidental loop.

Regards.
