10Gb link between 2 3750X switches with C3KX-NM-10G modules

Home lab situation:

I have 2 3750X-48PF-L switches with C3KX-NM-10G modules and i'm trying to create a 10Gb link, using a third-party twinax cable with sfp+ connections.  To be exact: a D-link DEM-CB100S direct attach SFP+ to SFP+  50cm copper cable.

There is no 10G link coming up.  There IS a gigabit link coming up when i plug the cable in the 1G slots of the NM-10G module, but no 10G when i plug the cable in the TE1 / TE2 slots.  Message " %PHY-4-SFP_PLUS_NOT_SUPPORTED: The SFP PLUS in Te1/1/2 is not supported"

"service unsupported-transceiver" and "no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalid" are already activated, and the switches are running 15.2.4.E10.  Switches have 256M ram / 64M flash and a lanbase license.

Should this work or ... ?

Hi,

as per the log message, the transceiver you are trying to use is not supported to 10G module. you need to go with cisco 10G transceiver to create link between switches.

Hi,

To see what type and from what vendor the existing SFP is

• show controllers ethernet-controller tengigabitethernet1/1/2 phy
• show interfaces tengigabitethernet1/1/2 status
• show interface x/y

  Auto-duplex, Auto-speed, link type is auto, media type is  1000BaseCX SFP Cable --> Check this

to display the list of DOM-supported transceivers on the switch

• show interfaces transceiver supported-list
