I have been having trying to connect to my 2900 xl switch console with my laptop , however the screen is blank nothing is poping up on the screen . I was wondering whether a DB9 SERIAL RS232 TO USB CONVERTER connected to the console port could be the cause .
Does anybody know how to fix it.
Thanks

Assuming the baud rate is set to 9600,try changing the usb port at the laptop end and see if it works.

Use a db9 to USB converter with one of the cisco console cables . This should work fine if setup correctly. Some converters have specific drivers to make them work correctly.

Hi ,
R u getting any junk characters on the screen after connecting the switch using console. If yes , then baud rate might be different on the switch , ideally it must be 9600.
So try to change the baud from low to high and check whether you are able to login into the switch.
At each and every time start new hyper terminal session.
Tks,
