2960S PoE and Phone issues

venturas05

Level 1

I have recently replaced some Catalyst 3550's with Catalyst 2960s PoE 48 port switches. Since the replacement I have had some issues with phones that will not have a dial tone. They are powered and the network config shows the correct configuration. They have the correct addresses for call manager and the router handling inter-campus calling. We tag the voice vlan separate from data and we use auto qos voip on the switches. Any assistance will be appreciated.

I have eliminated the phones by replacing one with a known working phone and taking another to another location. The known working phone would not work on the campus with the issue and the phone that would not work on that campus works on another campus.

Alessio

The vlan interfaces are configured on our core switch and updated to the switches via VTP. From my understanding I do not need to configure CDP on the switch it is already configured by default. Also, should have mentioned this earlier but we do have other models of phones on these switches and they are working correctly. We have 4 7912's that are not working correctly. If we reset them they will work for a few hours before they lose dial tone again.

This issue was resolved when we discovered that after turning on WoL older HP desktops started sending out fragmented packets in the millions causing all kinds of problems within the network. Since the driver update the issue has not repeated.
