2960x PoE issues with Aruba AP

g3doubt
Level 1
Level 1

Is there other command to guarantee that the switch is giving the PoE listed with show power inline interface detail?

Customer has an Aruba AP and they don´t trust the output of the switch because the AP is not booting correctly, and the same AP is booting correctly in other switchs vendors:

CEF-MDF-SW2960X#show power inline

It´s an Aruba AP-515.

Checking on another switch (C3800) that has the same model of AP, the AP consumes 15.4 w.

Here is the output of the other switch with the same AP model connected:

check is this bug hitting you :

https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCvf12964

i would suggest defaulting the interface on Cisco 2960 and connecting AP and see if the AP comes up, is all the ports have same issue only 4/0/19

I do not see the port coming up ? is that port working as expected, can you connect any other device to ports ?

what is the version IOS on 2960 - if possible upgrade to latest code and test,  check no cdp on the port, ipm mode on ap may have some fixes.

if you like to configure priority you can do as per the document guide :

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst2960x/software/15-0_2_EX/int_hw_components/configuration_guide/b_int_152ex_2960-x_cg/b_int_152ex_2960-x_cg_chapter_0111.html

Hi,

I´ve already tested in other port (gi4/0/20) and in both ports the configuration was set to default with cdp disable. Also both ports came up and the output dsiplays that it gave enough PoE.

The AP seems to start but with an error and acording to Aruba, Its because it doesn´t have enough PoE. I set up de port with 25 W (acordding to ARUBA documentation, it is the maximum suppoted for the AP model) but it had the same result:

Regards

never had any test with Aruba AP (run debug and check what is wrong)

check below this may help you.

Sorry for answer delay : we deploy same AP model on c2960x, and we do use LLDP protocole on eth interface to have  the APs puting "up" it's radio interfaces - it seems that this AP model prefer to negocy PoE via LLDP...
