Dear Mates,
We have couple of cisco 2960X switches having ios version of 15.2(2)E5.
We are connecting Access control devices to the switch and which draws 18W power. All the ports are configured to
(Config-if)poe inline static max 30000
So the port should be capable to provide 30W at maximum. But even if we connect a single ACS device, we are getting the below poe error
%ILPOWER-7-DETECT: Interface Fa0/17: Power Device detected: IEEE PD
%ILPOWER-3-CONTROLLER_PORT_ERR: Controller port error, Interface Fa0/17: Power Controller reports power Imax error detected
We have tried with several troubleshooting steps like upgrading the switch, increasing power in the ports, etc but no luck.
Please I need to get rid of this issue as soon as possible and helpfull comments are highly appreciated
Thanks

Have you tested with the following -
US-HOU-2960-01(config-if)#power inline port 2x-mode
Then bring the port down and back up.

Hi,
Thank you for the prompt reply. Yeah I have tried this as well but no luck. still POE error is there when I connect the Access Control System to the switch. Any other steps we can try with?

Admittedly, this is a long shot. But if these aren't Cisco devices, then possibly enabling LLDP may help.
"Starting with Cisco IOS Release 12.2(52)SE, when LLDP is enabled and power is applied to a port, the power TLV determines the actual power requirement of the endpoint device so that the system power budget can be adjusted accordingly. The switch processes the requests and either grants or denies power based on the current power budget. If the request is granted, the switch updates the power budget. If the request is denied, the switch turns off power to the port, generates a syslog message, and updates the power budget. If LLDP-MED is disabled or if the endpoint does not support the LLDP-MED power TLV, the initial allocation value (15.4 W) is used throughout the duration of the connection."
