I have a 3550-12G Switch. Last Saturday, after issued the "show cdp nei detail", the switch was hung and then crased.
From the "show version", I saw the following message.
System returned to ROM by error - Program Exception (0x0700)!, PC 0x0.
And the IOS Version is 12.1(22)EA1a, is this a bug? I can't find it in bug toolkit.

Don't know if it is or not but code version is pretty old , believe it is up to like 12.2.44SE6 or something like that now . this what the output interpreter says which sort of points to software.
ERROR: A system crash due to the 'Program Exception' error is usually caused bya software issue.

If you do a "dir", can you find the crashinfo file? If so, can you attach the file so we can have a look?

Don't see anything helpful from the crashinfo.
Why don't you try to upgrade to 12.2(44)?
05-14-2009 01:47 AM
Due to production issue, I can't upgrade it right now. But I will suggest my customer upgrade it to the latest version if possible.
Thank you.
