Hello All,
I received a 3560X-24 switch to use for my current testing using VLANS. This switch is on loan and may be needed to be taken back upon request.
I was to told to copy the running config file that is currently in there before I start using it. I looked up information on copying but did not see how
to copy it to another location INSIDE the unit itself so it can be recalled. I want to ensure that it is saved inside the unit and not deleted before
I create the new running-config file!! Any help on this?
Thanks.
Regards,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Simply execute the command copy running-config flash:filename where filename is the name you want to give to the current running config.
If you then execute the dir flash: command you should see the file you just created.

If you do the command show clock on the switch you will find that it believes that the date is 1993. Some switches like this one do not maintain clock time over a reload and will start from a default time in 1993. If the switch were connected to a real network I would suggest using NTP as the best way for the switch to learn the correct date and time. But since it is in a testing environment I will suggest that you use the privilege exec command clock set to get the correct date into the switch.

Hi Steve,
That worked!! I did a command more flash:filename to view that the contents of the file and the information is in there.
I do have a related question:
When I did the copy command I noticed that the time stamp was not correct, it labled the file with a 1993 date. Can I update it to the current date?
Thanks.

Jeff
