Hi,
It looks like to me that the 3560v2 doesn't come with gig ports other than the uplinks. Is this true? All of the documentation is for 10/100 ports. Seems funny that the v2 would only have 10/100 when the older model comes in gig.
Thanks, Pat.

Pat,
That is correct. All the ports are 10/100 except the uplinks which are Gig (SFP). The 48 port comes with 4 SFPs and the 24 port comes with 2 SFPs.

The original 3560 (v1) was also 10/100 only. Maybe you're thinking of the 3560E which was 10/100/1000, as are the new 3560X.

f lonnman,
are you sure about that? This is the model number of one of my switches:
WS-C3560G-24TS-S. Wouldn't have an E in the name? If not, how could I tell if it was an E or not?
thanks.

Ah yeah, forgot about the 3560G which ofcourse was 10/100/1000. But alas, the regular 3560 was only 10/100.
The -E was, if im not mistaken, like the G but with possible 10G uplinks.

cool. Thanks.
So, there is no 3560g in the v2 variety?

I think that'd be the 3560X then.

Is the v2 kinda like the new 3560 and the X kinda like the new E?
thanks

Yeah exactly. The -X has got some new features like macsec, stackpower, 802.3at poe+ and redundant field-replaceable fans and PSU.

No, the v2 3650 is almost identical to the original except for less power consumption (probably also cheaper to manufacture too).
To quote from the 3650v2 datasheet:
• Lower power consumption than its predecessors
• Backward compatible - uses the same Cisco IOS® Software image as the 3560 series and has the same feature set
• Full EnergyWise support to monitor energy consumption of network infrastructure and implement energy saving programs to reduce energy costs
Yes, the X is kinda the new and improved E. Both series, having much improved performance capacity over the original series G models. (The X series improvements more notable with the 3750 version.)
