A co-worker has attempted (using CLI for the first time ) to set up a new Catalyst 3650-24PS-S switch. He does not remember what he has done. I would like to reset the switch to factory defaults. However, using the instructions in the Switch Configuration Guide I cannot. Can a reset be done using CLI and what are the instructions? Any help would be appreciated.

To factory default using CLI, use the command "wr erase" and reboot the switch.

hi,
did you co-worker configured the passwords?
if yes, then your option is to do a password recovery (or wipe out switch config).

I followed the steps here but after reloading the switch immediately asks for a username and password. Any suggestions?

Hi,
You need to power down the switch, power it back on with the mode button pressed. You will eventually arrive at the switch: prompt.
flash_init rename flash:config.text flash:config.old
boot
