3750 Stacking

Sorry if this is a stupid question....

Looking at purchasing the 3750's. I understand the Master/Slave issue with the switches. If one switch goes down, can I assume that all of the clients attached to this switch are down as well until the device gets replaced, or does it get passed to one of the other switches?

cisco 3750 use stackwise technology. StackWise technology unites up to nine individual Cisco Catalyst 3750 Series switches into a single logical unit, using special stack interconnect cables and stacking software.

if one switch in the stack goes down, clients connected to the switch will also go down but this swtch faiure will not have impact on remaining members in the stack.

Hi Scott,

If one of the switch goes down in the stack, all the clients connected to the switch will be down unless you are using dual Clients NIC's. If you have dual NIC's on the clients and have one of the NIC connected one stack member switch and another NIC is connected to a different stack member. If you dont have dual NIC's the clients will be down until you replace the switch.
