3750 switch stack running IPBase and IPServices?

Does anyone know what the behavior would be of a 3750 switch stack running IPBase on the slave, and IPServices on the master. The stack is configured with EIGRP (non-stub) and the master fails. Would the slave ignore the EIGRP configuration?

The master will run while the slave will not be allowed to join the stack.

If your switch stack contains switches that run Standard
Multilayer Software Image (SMI) and Enhanced Multilayer Software Image (EMI)
software, the switch that runs the EMI software must be the stack master.
The EMI features become unavailable to all stack members if the stack master
runs the SMI software.

At least two stack members must have EMI software installed
to ensure redundant support for the EMI features. The EMI takes precedence
over the SMI during stack master election, when the priority value of the
stack members is the same. If the EMI stack master fails, the other stack
member that runs the EMI software becomes the stack master.

When a switch with the EMI software joins a switch stack that runs the SMI software of the same version, the EMI switch does not automatically become the stack master. For the EMI switch to become the stack master, reset the current SMI stack master with the reload slot stack-member-number privileged EXEC command. The EMI switch now becomes the stack master, if its priority value is higher than or the same as the other stack members. So, as a summary, you can have this setup work, but the stack master should be an EMI switch, and you should have at least two EMI switches (IP Services), which is exactly matching your setup.

The documented behavior is the IPBase member would take over if the IPServices master fails and since its feature set does not support full EIGRP routing, yes, that part of the configuration would be ignored.

Hi,

If a switch in the stack is running the cryptographic (that is, supports encryption) version of the IP base or IP services image software, we recommend that this switch be the stack master. Encryption features are unavailable if the stack master is running the noncryptographic version of the IP base or IP services image software.

And all stack members must run the same Cisco IOS software version to ensure compatibility between stack members. This helps ensure full compatibility in the stack protocol version among the stack members. For example, all stack members should have the IP services image Cisco IOS Release 12.1(14)EA1 installed.

Hi,

In addition to what others said which is correct, you will see a Version Mismatch when u see the stack members.
