3750-X NetFlow Support

I've been researching the 3750-x Netflow support but I'm not 100% sure of how much support it has. From what I've read the only way to get NetFlow

support is to install a specific module that provides NetFlow. I also heard about how it might support s-flow but I haven't found out for sure. Does anyone have

any experience with this?

Hi John,

Flexible NetFlow is supported only on the Catalyst 3750-X and 3560-X switch running the IP base or IP services feature set and equipped with the network services module C3KX-SM-10G. It is not supported on switches running the LAN base image. Cisco switches do not support sFlow.

Here is also a doc about this service module:

So basically, without the module you can't get Flexible NetFlow on the 3750-x?

Thanks for all your help btw.

That is correct, switch HW does not have required ASICs and cannot do Netflow without that service module.

You are welcome!

Ivan

Hi

There are 2 different versions of netflow for the 3750x

You have the Flexible Netflow wich you need to have a special module card for.

the module card is C3KX-SM-10G

(this module does not work properly with version 12 it needs version 15).

And you have SLT wich is Smart Logging And Telemetry wich gives you some sort of Netflow converted information.

General info Module and so on

Good luck

Thanks Hobbe. From researching SLT, it doesn't appear to really do anything as far as a real bandwidth/flow monitoring solution, unless an event is triggered such as ACL rule match etc.

Thanks for all the information guys. I'll award points when I get home tonight.

Hi John,

I believe you are correct. SLT only exports messages that violate ACLs.  You read about Smart Logging Telemetry here:

Humm

I woudl not say there are 2 version of NetFlow... There is only one and it requires the Service Module
