Hi,

I want to change from bundle mode to install

So I want to run the below command

software expand file flash:/cat3k_caa-universalk9ldpe.SPA.03.06.08.E.152-2.E8.bin

before expanding, I want to clean up old files .How can I do that ?

software install file flash:cat3k_caa-universalk9ldpe.SPA.03.06.08.E.152-2.E8.bin new force verb on-reboot

Use the command above to start the Install Mode process of unpacking/extracting the package files from the BIN file.

After the process completes, check to make sure the time & date stamp of packages.conf file. If the time and date is not the same as the time and dates of the new package files, check the content of the package file:

more flash:packages.conf | begin for NOVA

The package files inside the packages.conf file should point to the new version.

Next, use the "sh boot" command to make sure the boot variable string is pointing to the packages.conf file. In the "sh boot" output, make sure "Manual Boot" is "NO".

Reboot when everything looks good.

After the reboot, clean up the flash (or else the switch will nag).

NOTE: See attachment for better instructions (including pictures).

The switch was a stack member .I removed it from the stack.The plan is to create another stack

I tried the above and getting "I tried the below and getting "% Switch 5 must be running installed software to perform this operation"

And also how to remove the old " 1248 Aug 03 2015 06:10:08.0000000000 +00:00 packages.conf"

If I extract this will be over writen ?

So here is the steps:

1. software install file flash:cat3k_caa-universalk9ldpe.SPA.03.06.08.E.152-2.E8.bin new force verb on-reboot

2. Check the packages files are pointed to the correct version -- more flash:packages.conf | begin for NOVA

3. Remove the old boot variable statement and make sure the boot variable is pointed to "packages.conf".

conf t
 no boo system switch all
 boot system flash flash:packages.conf
end

4. Save the config.

5. Reboot the switch.

Since the switch was removed from the stack, you need to un-provision the switch first because right now the switch still thinks it is #5.

Reza is right. It must be some kind of a bug.

Do the following

no switch 1 provision
no switch 2 provision
no switch 3 provision
no switch 4 provision
no switch 6 provision
switch 5 renumber 1

And then reboot the switch (it should boot up as switch #1).

And re-run the command again.
