3850 Upgrade from 3.7.0E

Hi,

I was hoping for a little advice or help.

Current I have a stack of 2 x 3850 switches running 3.7.0E in Install mode. Accroding to this advsiory from Cisco, https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCuw82216 an upgrade to 3.6.3/3.7.2 can corrupt the flash.

Does this advisory apply to any upgrade from this version, or is it safe to upgrade to either 3.7.5 or Fuji-16.9.5?

This seems a pretty major bug and I don't want to end up in a situation with non functioning switches.

Any pointers, help or anyone that has done this particular upgrade would be appreciated.

you can upgrade from 3.X  install model to Fuji

Guide :

1. read the release notes and understand the caveats

2. copy the config out of box.

3. switch required to reboot while upgrade take place, so do in maintenance window.

I have not looked the bug in the past post - only suggested upgrade path.

as per the bug, it was only effect that version - 3.6(3)E, there  no information that effected on Fuji or reported as of now stands.

I strongly encourage you to raise a TAC Case.  

The information in the case, particularly the affected version, and the information found in the Known Affected Release do not match.  

Cisco's Bug IDs routinely do not contain useful information and the only way to get the correct information is to raise a TAC Case.

I've tried to raise a TAC case but as there is no support contract on the switches and there is a workaround in the bug (even though the upgrade version is ambiguous), I wasn't able to get one opened.

Ok, so there is a workaround:  Bundle Mode.

Upgrade the firmware of the switch using Bundle Mode.  Once the switch boots up the new IOS, do the Install Mode (unpack the firmware and change the boot variable string to point to the "packages.conf" file -- DO NOT REBOOT).
