3rd Party DAC Cable to Switch

Hi Guys, will third party vendor DAC cable works on Catalyst switch? I tried mine but it doesn't work, can I connect both ends of my DAC to my switch to create a loopback to test whether the cable is the issue or the switch? Thanks

what model of the switch, what IOS code running?

when you insert the cable, what logs you see, will the DAC cable recognised when you issue show interface x/x

what speed this DAC cable ?

yes you can loop the DAC cable (make sure if this is live switch you have have STP loops, - suggest to make it Layer 3 Switch port and test it)
