Hi
We run a 6509 with Sup720 and IOS 12.2(17a)S. Last night after a power outage the 6509 failed to reboot properly. Instead, when logging on via console we were presented with an rommon prompt. Entering 'boot' booted the system.
Can anyone please suggest how we can rectify this so the 6509 will boot sucessfully without intervention next time.
This is a heavily used switch so any help gratefully received!

In configuration mode type "config-register 0x2102".
Then check it again and it should say that the config register will be changed at the next reload.

Some basic things to check are:
- Verify that the boot strings in the configuration are correct.
- Verify the config register settings on both the MSFC and the Supevisor itself are both set to 0x2102. To do this, check the MSFC with the "sh ver" command, and check the Supevisor with the "rem com sw sh ver" command.

Hi
Many thanks!
When I entered rem com sw sh ver the value returned was 0x2100. Can you advise how to change this to 0x2102 please?
kind regards
Paul

Hi,
Can you please paste a "show version", "dir /all" and a "show run | i boot".

Mohammed Mahmoud.
