Hi all,
When the eval license has expired on the 9300 what license mode will the switch be on.
Will it have basic dot1x/routing protocols enabled without a essentials or advantage. Slightly confused on what is available without a license .
Thanks

Hi,
- There is only one 90 day evaluation period for the device. Once it is expired it is never reset.
- When the evaluation period expires at the end of 90 days, the device goes into EVAL EXPIRY mode, however, there is no functional impact or disruption in functionality, even after reload. There is no enforcement in place currently.
But we are not sure about the upcoming upgrade. Currently, the configured things will work.
This may help you more. Don't forget to compare it with 16.9.1 or above release. There was a big change in licensing from 16.9.1

Hi,
Once the eval license expired, you will go back to default license. After that, you would need to purchase and install whatever license you desire to have. Usually, when you order a switch, you pay for the license as a line item, this way the switch always has base license to start with.
from the license documentation for the 9300:
Evaluation licenses—Pre-installed on the device and valid for a 90-day trial period. They cannot be ordered or tranferred to another device. Once activated, this type of license cannot be deactivated until it expires. Warning system messages about the evaluation license expiry are generated 10 and 5 days before the 90-day period and everyday after that. After your evaluation period expires, at the next reload, the device returns to its default license and network operations are not impacted.
