Dear every one,
We have C6513 with WS-X6548-GE-TX module when I made the command: sh int gi5/1 cap it said
Model: WS-X6548-GE-TX
Ports on ASIC: 1-24
And I found something on cisco website:
# Port ASIC’s on the linecard: 6
# Physical Ports per Port ASIC: 8
1- I was confused when I tried to understand what does it mean:
a- Ports on ASIC: 1-24?
b- Port ASIC’s on the linecard: 6?
c- Physical Ports per Port ASIC: 8?
2- From the resule above what is the Oversubscription Ratios take in consideration the command sh int gi5/1 cap result?
you can see the output in the attached file.
Thank you in advance and best regards to all,

Hi,
this link describes how the ASICs share both ports and memory and the associated problems this can result in:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps700/products_tech_note09186a00801751d7.shtml#ASIC
"
1- I was confused when I tried to understand what does it mean:
a- Ports on ASIC: 1-24? No idea why it indicates this
b- Port ASIC’s on the linecard: 6? Correct for a 48 port module
c- Physical Ports per Port ASIC: 8? Correct for a 48 port module
6 ASICs by 8 ports each totals 48 ports.

Steve

thank you Steve,
But did you see the txt file that I attched it? because in this file you will see the output of a certain commands that regards the misunderstanding -confusing- that I face. however I agree with what you said but the problem is I'm sure 100% about the output of the switch, and I said to my self may be there is another type of this module!!!!! ...... finally I don't know.
I can do any thing that you need to do on my switch that may be help...
Thank you
Ahmed
