acceptable signal loss and power levels for 10Gig Connections

Hi All, trying not to be too vague, but what is the acceptable loss of signal and TX/RX power needed for a 10gig connections?

I'll be setting up a 5mile connection via my companies dark fiber which will pass thru several buildings and LIU's.

I've requested our communications team run a fiber tester on the new link prior to putting any optics on the length.

What would be the range I'm looking for signal and TX/RX power I should be?

The optics I will be using is SFP-10G-ER

Thanks,

Dan

Hi,

As long the fiber test shows DB losses are within the secs for single mode fiber, you should be fine.

here is good doc for reference:
