Active/Active mixed version support ?

Hi there,

We are trying to get some endpoint redundancy in place and have the following switch's.

Room 1 - Catalyst 9300 x4 <- Brand New
Room 2 - Catalyst 2960-X x4 <- EOL 2027

Is it possible to create 2x 4 Stacks and then setup active/active between them or would there be too much of a hardware variance and version issue?

Or does anyone else have an idea of how we can make the best of what we have to achieve the right redundancy we need?

Matt

First you can mix the Model to make stack.

Not sure what is active / Active  here ? end device have only  1 interface if this is access switch, if end device do not have dual path, how do you create a Active Active ?

Make a Small network diagram and post here. we can understand your goal and suggest if we can and if possible ?

We want to make them active/active so 1:1 failover
Our endpoints will be connected to both stacks so that should one fail connectivity will remain

as I know you can not stack different HW.
but instead you must carefully add link between two Stack and then change the GW in dhcp point to SVI in new stack (c9k)

We don't want to mix and match in the same stack, we just want to use 2 different stacks have them configured as active/active failover  so I assume I just run the failover setup and ensure both stacks point to all of the same gateways etc right ?

that OK, now what about active/active, you meanig the traffic is load balance ??
