Added 2nd Sup Engine 8 to new 4507 & 4510R+E Switches. When powered back on, light is amber and Sup is visble under "sh module." But, I'm unable to enter commands under config mode. What's best procedure to bring new Sup online?

Make sure to configure the sup to work in SSO mode, so in case one fails the other one can take over packet forwarding.  The command to see if the sups are functioning in active/hot stand-by mode is to use "sh redundancy".

Also, make sure the second sup has the same exact IOS version and license as the primary one.

Hi;

You are connected the console on primary Sup or Secondary Sup. On Secondary Sup it will shows as standby-sup and you can not configure the device. and amber light is also showing as supervisor is standby.

Thanks & Best regards;

I was on the primary console, while unable to configure anything, which is what concerned me. The secondary shows a "disabled" status. I'll go back and verify the same ios, since the sup came in a separate order. Thanks guys

Hi;

Can you check the logs or messages coming on Secondary Supervisor or it may be stuck on rommon mode, may be IOS don't match or etc.

Thanks & Best regards;
