AP returns to 1Gb/s after TDR test

Good morning all,

Today I am faced with a problem which I cannot explain.

Equipment used : 2x Cisco WLC 8540 SSO

AP: Cisco AIR-CAP2702i-E-K9

Switch: Cisco WS-C2960X-48FPS-L (stack of

One of my Wi-Fi hotspots located outside regularly goes up to 100Mb/s (about once a month). By restarting it via the WLC, it goes directly back to 1000Mb/s until it returns to 100Mb/s a few weeks later.

This morning I found it at 100Mb/s, and to go further I connected to the switch to see the state of its interface, and it was negotiating well at 100Mb/s. So I immediately launched a TDR test, and there was a miracle : the interface went back to 1000 and the AP too.

In summary, a TDR test on the interface of a 100Mb/s AP brought it to 1000Mb/s. I don't understand, could someone explain to me ?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

I see this behaviour all the time with AP2700/AP3700.
I have never seen this with older AP models, like 3500 or 2600/3600.

I have never seen this behaviour with newer APs like 2800/3800, 4800 nor 9130.
