Applying/ Removing QoS config on 6500

When you apply QoS on 6500 module, say 6516A the config is applied on a group of ports rather than individual ports. For example if you apply QoS on port g2/1 it will affect port g2/1 - g2/8. How can I remove the config from one port where I dont need Qos , for example I do not wan QoS to be configured on port g2/7?

ANy help would be appreciated.

Don't think that is possible , maybe someone else can chime in . We got burned by that problem .

Hi

As Glen says you cannot do this. The reason is QOS is done with the Policy Feature Card (PFC) and the PFC applies the identical configuration to a group of ports controlled by an ASIC.

With the WS-X6516A-GBIC there are 2 port groups

Ports 1 - 8

Ports 9 -16

each group is controlled by one ASIC. So the config will be applied to the entire group and you don't have the granularity to remove it from one port within the group.

See attached link for more details.
