Packet tracer ( Hub or Switch) Troubleshooting which one Preferred

Hello,

I have got a quick question.

If i am using a packet tracer on a LAN. Is it better to use in the Hub environment or in a switch environment.

I have read it that cisco recommends Hub ...vs switch. The only explanation comes to my mind, is in Hub environment is If a source computer sends a packet to Destination computer then all computers on Hub will see the packet and they won't process it if it's not for them. In switch environment, only receiving computer will check and process the packet sent from Sender. Correct me if i am wrong..

Thanks,

Hassan..

HUB = Everyone connected to the hub gets a copy of the frame

switch = only the destination machine gets a copy of the frame

The reason why it says to use a hub is because you do not need to do anything to the hub so there is no config changes. In a switched environment, with out extra configuration on the switch, the frame will never reach the sniffer/tracer/monitoring box.
